The UAE will host the18th regular meeting of the leaders of the Shura, Representatives, National, and Ummah Councils of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries tomorrow. The meeting will be chaired by Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC). Additionally, the 19th Parliamentary Coordination, Foreign Relations Committee meeting will also convene. Saqr Ghobash emphasised the significance of these meetings in bolstering Gulf parliamentary collaboration, aligning efforts to realise the GCC leaders' vision, and addressing regional and international developments. He highlighted the role of parliamentary diplomacy in advancing the shared interests of GCC states in global forums. Saudi Shura Council Speaker Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh, upon his arrival in Abu Dhabi, reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to fostering GCC unity, security, and shared development. He expressed appreciation for the GCC leaders’ support of parliamentary meetings, aiming to enhance inter-parliamentary coordination for the region’s collective growth. Qatari Shura Council Speaker Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim stressed the importance of intensifying parliamentary cooperation amid current global challenges. He underscored the necessity of unified Gulf stances to ensure political stability and economic resilience. Omani Shura Council Chairman Khalid Bin Hilal Al Maawali highlighted the role of legislative councils in fostering social, economic, and cultural ties within the Gulf, contributing to a prosperous and stable future. He praised the UAE's leadership for hosting the event and expressed confidence in the outcomes of the discussions. Bahraini Parliament Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam commended the deep-rooted Gulf ties and collective identity, emphasising the importance of these parliamentary gatherings in solidifying shared strategies. He highlighted the need for sustainable strategic partnerships that align with the GCC’s long-term vision. These sessions are expected to yield significant outcomes, strengthening cooperation among GCC legislative bodies and supporting the region's sustainable development objectives.
