UAE Armed Forces unification a key decision by the Union: UAQ Ruler

H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Qaiwain, stressed that the unification of the UAE Armed Forces, characterised by wisdom and foresight, was one of the most pivotal decisions in the Union’s history. ‘’This unification has significantly bolstered the nation’s achievement in establishing a modern state capable of safeguarding its gains and citizens, and ensuring security, stability, and tranquillity for the UAE’s people and residents on its land, while also effectively addressing risks,’’ he added. He further added that the remarkable development and comprehensive renaissance witnessed by the country since its establishment are testaments to the enduring impact of this momentous decision. In his speech on the occasion of the 48th Armed Forces Unification Day, H.H. Sheikh Saud said that the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the Founding Fathers made their historic decision on 6th May, 1976, to unify the Armed Forces. “Their aim was to build a unified army that can protect the nation’s territory and preserve its security, stability, achievements, and gains. This unification has significantly strengthened the success of the UAE’s development and continues to support the pillars of its leading renaissance,” he affirmed. The UAE Armed Forces, with divine guidance and upon the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, along with the oversight of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, and efforts of loyal Emiratis have evolved into a modern and advanced military that can uphold the country’s sovereignty and independence, and maintain its security and stability, embodying the values of loyalty and sacrifice for the nation and steadfastly defending the Union. “Our Armed Forces heroes have sacrificed their lives for the nation, made great sacrifices, and ascended to their Lord as martyrs. Death did not frighten them nor deter them from defending their homeland. They bravely stepped forward to perform their national duty, and we take pride in them and cherish their heroism, which they have inscribed in the defence of the nation,” Sheikh Saud said. H.H. then extended his appreciation to the members of the Armed Forces, who have set the finest examples of loyalty, belonging, and dedication to the nation, keeping its flag flying high in the fields of duty and renewing their pledge of loyalty and allegiance to the country and its leadership.
