Saqr Ghobash receives President of PAM's Women Parliamentary Forum

Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), has received Joana Lima, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) Women Parliamentary Forum. During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance parliamentary relations between the FNC and PAM. The FNC Speaker emphasised the significance of advancing cooperation among parliaments of the countries in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean. He also stressed the FNC's keenness to participate in PAM's work since its membership was approved in the 14th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean in February 2020. Ghobash also pointed to the growing relations between the FNC and PAM, especially after the permanent membership of the council was approved. He also said there are many developments at the legislative, institutional, strategic and policy levels that strengthen the structure of human rights in the UAE and preserve the gains achieved by women, including the normative, legal and political frameworks and enhance the path of women empowerment to achieve gender balance. The meeting was attended by several FNC members.
