H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, has underlined the significant role played by the Emirates Diplomatic Academy (EDA) in preparing young national talent capable of promoting to the entire world the nation's message of peace, tolerance, co-existence and international cooperation. Sheikh Abdullah, who is also the Chairman of the Academy's Board of Trustees, made the remarks as he chaired the Board's 9th meeting in Abu Dhabi today. The meeting was attended by Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Dr. Sultan bin Ahmad Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State; Zaki Nusseibeh, Minister of State; Ali Mohammad Hammad Al Shamsi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Supreme National Security Council; Ambassador Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, UAE's Permanent Representative to the United Nations; UAE Ambassador to Belgium Mohamed Abushahab; and a number of other diplomats and Ministry's senior officials. H.H. Sheikh Abdullah, addressing the meeting, underscored the paramount importance of the Academy's role in grooming graduates and diplomats qualified enough to carry on the diplomatic achievements made by the country and achieve its foreign policy objectives. He reviewed the EDA's strategic plan, future strategies and activities for the next academic year, including the New Master of Arts in Humanitarian Action and Development. He also addressed the ongoing work of the Sustainable Development Goals Center of Excellence for the Arab Region (SDGCAR). Bernardino León, Director General of the Emirates Diplomatic Academy, expressed thanks to Sheikh Abdullah for his support to the Academy and his keenness to develop a clear-cut strategic course enabling it to prepare qualified young cadres that place the academy at par with its global peers. He expressed pride of the achievements made by the academy in 2018, including the launch of the first edition of the Abu Dhabi Diplomacy Conference and the SDGCAR, among others.
